Please Stay- A Song of Hope
I don’t usually share much of my musician life here, but Please Stay is more than a song to me. It grew out of personal loss, my work in mental health, and a message I deeply believe in: Your story isn’t over.
After losing someone near and dear to me to suicide in December, suicide prevention suddenly became deeply personal.
I wrote Please Stay from a place of grief, faith, love and hope. The lyrics in the song speak to the person who feels exhausted, afraid, overwhelmed, and unsure if they can keep going. At its heart, the song is a reminder that pain can make it difficult to see beyond the present moment. When I wrote the words “Please Stay," I was not promising that suddenly everything would be okay; rather, I wanted to extend the invitation to hold on long enough to see what comes next.
Things are allowed to feel impossible and miserable and horrifying right now. In this moment, hope may seem completely out of reach. Defeat is real, and so is loneliness and sorrow…..
But… hear me out- what if you just have to let it hurt…and keep living? Because…what if your story gets better in the next chapter? What if you just need to finish reading the book?
The Please Stay Campaign was created to carry that message beyond the song. With each shirt purchase, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to support suicide prevention, education, advocacy, research, and resources for those impacted by suicide.
My hope is that the song lyrics and the shirts do two things at once: help fund meaningful prevention work and put visible reminders like "Please Stay" and "Your Story Isn't Over" into the world for someone who may need to see them.
This campaign is deeply personal to me. It is a way to honor someone I love, raise awareness, and remind others that their life has value.
Hope is here. Even if you haven't seen it yet.
